North Bondi is where the locals live. It has a fun, village-like atmosphere and you’ll often see its residents lined-up for an excellent coffee and amazing bread and pastries. North Bondi food offers both variety and quality to suit all budget sizes, dietary requirements and occasions – whether special or otherwise!

We’ve put to together a list of our North Bondi food favourites, all of which are within walking distance from all corners of the neighbourhood.

Shuk Bondi
(Cnr of Murriverie Rd & Mitchell St)

Israeli inspired and also on Mitchell Street, Shuk does an excellent breakfast and lunch and also does take-out from the front door. The lamb kofta is a particular favourite.

Shuk North Bondi

Shuk Bakery
(Cnr of Mitchell Street & O’Donnell Street)

Located on Mitchell Street, Shuk offers excellent coffee, great bread, tasty sandwiches and pastries. Pull up a stool or milkcrate.

Lox in Box
(96 Glenayr Avenue)

The name says it all! Located just off 7-Ways, the village hub of North Bondi a great place to start your eating out in North Bondi food adventure.

Blair Street Dairy
(Blair Street on Seven-Ways)

Dairy boasts a healthy menu with lots of tasty choices for every dietary requirement. Located on 7 Ways and another favourite breakfast haunt.

The Fish Shop
(Cnr Blair Street & Glenayr Street on Seven-Ways)

The Fish Shop on Seven Ways is a relatively new addition to North Bondi. If you think you’ll enjoy clever variations of a classic fish shop menu, give this place a go.

Seans at North Bondi

Sean’s (Panorama)
(Cnr of Campbell Parade & Ramsgate Avenue)

Sean’s is a Bondi institution. Having been around since the 90’s, it’s kitsch yet funky interior belies the stunning food that comes from the kitchen. Most of the produce comes from the owner’s farm in the Megalong Valley (Blue Mountains area) and is organic and incredibly flavoursome. Excellent vegetarian options are a staple, and their own, farm-grown chicken is to die for. Sean’s offers the best of North Bondi food as well as fantastic views of North Bondi Beach

North Bondi Food 4

North Bondi Fish
(Ramsgate Avenue on North Bondi Beach)

If you’re a lover of fish and other seafood, don’t miss North Bondi Fish, located right on North Bondi Beach. The quality and presentation of the fish that’s served, the views and seemingly constant, fun buzz make it a perennial favourite. There’s a great wine and cocktail selection too. We consider it a must-do if you’re Eating out in North Bondi.

North Bondi Food 5

Speedos Café
(Ramsgate Avenue on North Bondi Beach)

Speedoes calls itself “The World’s MOST Instagrammable Café” and with good reason!

Having been around since 1928, it’s an icon of the area and on a fine summer’s day there’s usually a line of sand-covered people buying a green juice or coffees. The food is clean and healthy (and tasty) and the menu is updated regularly. The coffee is also reliably good. Eat in with beach views or take-away, if you’re at North Bondi beach, Speedos is an easy choice.

Bar Pho North Bondi

Bar Pho
(132 Warners Avenue, North Bondi)

Another relative newcomer and very welcome addition to the North Bondi Food scene is Bar Pho. Bar Pho serves delicious, authentic and preservative (and any other nasties) free Vietnamese food. The food is fab, the cocktails are vibrant and the just-off-the-beach location perfect for an apres swim late lunch or early dinner.

As well as regular indoor tables, there are tables on the footpath, bar seating and window seats that offer great views of the North Bondi beach area.

Raw Bar North Bondi

Raw Bar
(136 Warners Avenue, North Bondi)

Raw Bar is another Bondi institution. It was the first Japanese restaurant in Bond and has been around since 1995. Unsurprisingly, it still attracts a crowd most weekend afternoons and with a location just steps off North Bondi Beach and capturing the afternoon sun, it’s easy to see why.

The food is very good too. Fresh, sustainable and innovative Japanese food at its best and an extensive cocktail and wine list – it sure to please most.

Harrys Bondi

Harrys’s Bondi (North)
(136 Wairoa Avenue, North Bondi – near the corner of Warners)

Harry’s is another long-standing member of the North Bondi food scene, having been around since 1997. If you’re wondering whether there’s a relationship with Raw Bar next door, which is of the same vintage, then your hunch is correct. The chef from Raw Bar also cooks in Japanese style for Harry’s most weeknights.

Harry’s is really popular with a younger crowd most of the time, but don’t let that put you off if you’re part of another crowd! Whether it’s breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner Harry’s should do the job.

If you’re visiting Sydney and looking for North Bondi accommodation, we suggest you try The Mitchell Bondi. It’s large, two-bedroom apartments are perfect for short and medium-term stays and within walking distance of the places listed in North Bondi Food.
