Easter – 29th of March to 1st of April
The Easter period is one of those times around Bondi where the weather is warm, the sun isn’t too hot and the ocean temperature is wonderful. It’s a truly awesome time for a beach holiday and as far as beach holidays go, it doesn’t get much better than North Bondi Beach!
April
ANZAC Day – Thursday the 25th of April
Commemorate ANZAC day by taking Friday the 26th off work and making it a long-weekend. If you do we’ll be ready to welcome you at The Mitchell Bondi.
June
Monarch’s Official Birthday – Wednesday the12th of June
The Monarch’s Official Birthday falls on a Wednesday in 2024, so perhaps you could take a few days off and make it a long weekend? And where else better to spend it than around the surf and sand of North Bondi Beach!
July
The Bondi Festival – Early July (dates to be determined)
The Bondi Festival is an arts festival for everyone of any age. The ice rink, a perennial festival favourite, is always a drawcard as are the other carnival style rides sitting picturesquely by the white sands and blue water of Bondi Beach. Think lots of delicious food and bar choices, live music and an abundance of other performance arts events. The Bondi Festival is a great reason to plan a mid-winter get-away around Bondi Beach.
August
City to Surf – 11th of August
The City to Surf has been running for 52 years and is now the world’s largest fun run and a must-do event for many Sydneysiders as well as interstate visitors. It’s a charitable event, so whether you walk, run or a combination of both, you’ll be raising money for good causes. No need to feel obliged to wear sports-kit either. Join the hundreds of other City to Surf runners in fancy dress as they conquer the achievable 14kms from the Sydney City to Bondi Beach. When you get there, one of Sydney’s biggest dance-parties takes place to celebrate the end of the race. Add it to your bucket-list and Bondi Special Events 2024 calendar!
September
Bondi Festival of the Winds 2024 – Exact dates to be determined
The Bondi Festival of the Winds is a colourful and hugely creative “welcome to Spring” festival celebrating multiculturalism via kite art displays. Waverly Council partners with The Australian Kiteflyers Society to produce the event and more information can be found on their websites. It’s the only 3 days of the year that kiteflying is allowed on Bondi Beach, so check it out! You can also visit one of the kite-making workshops to build your own kite and fly it and let the kids be absorbed in the Puppet Theatre. Walking around Bondi Beach is always a special experience, however walking through hundreds of kites flying on the beach is a sensory delight for the whole family and a worthy inclusion for Bondi Special Events 2023.
October – November
Sculptures by the Sea 2024 – 18th of October to 4th of November
It’s back for 2024 and its 26th showing. Featuring more than 100 artworks by Australian and International sculptors, Sculptures by the Sea is now the world’s largest, free, outdoor sculpture exhibition globally. It’s also considered by many to be the “main event” on the Bondi Beach Special Events 2024 calendar.
Sculptures by the Sea is located along the stunning Bondi to Tamarama Beach coastal walk. Every twist and turn of the path opens on to another sculpture. It’s a voyage of discovery for adults and kids alike, with the lots of room to run around, play or walk the dog in Mark’s Park on the clifftops along the way.
Sculptures by the Sea is a very worthy reason for a weekend staying around the gorgeous Bondi Beach and North Bondi Beach areas. One of the most beautiful and least crowded times to do the sculpture walk is on sunrise, which may be hard to achieve if you’re not staying nearby.
